Our Barrel Reserve Shiraz in grown in our vineyard in Denison, Texas which is in the Red River Valley. Many people ask why we call it Shiraz instead of Syrah. They are the same grape. Syrah comes from a French bias and Shiraz from an Australian bias. The origin is said to have been Shiraz, Iran. The grape traveled from there to France and to Australia. The French changed the name. Australia kept it. Messina Hof preferred to honor its origins. (Plus, Shiraz sells better than Syrah.)
