Friends and growers, Jim and Barbara Irwin, took a chance to grow the misunderstood grape Primitivo. Many believe that Primitivo is really Zinfandel but that is not the case. You need only taste this Primitivo side by side with our Zinfandel and you will know that they are two uniquely designed grapes. Primitivo sounds primitive and it is earthy but smooth as silk in the mouth.

Our Cerro Santo Vineyard is a unique vineyard making a unique wine. Our Primitivo is a wonderful blend of 95%Primtivo and 5%Cabernet Franc. Aging in American and French oak makes the wine intense with rich berry flavors and a long, lingering finish. The intensity of spice is pronounced in the fruit from this vineyard.
