No one believes that we can grow Pinot Noir in Texas. It is not a difficult grape to grow; it is a difficult wine to make as it prefers cold climates. Grown in our most northerly vineyard, Halfway, our Pinot Noir enjoys hot days and cold nights that gives it dark jammy color and fruit. Paul was the first winemaker to use what he called thermo-flash to set the color in the wine. He spiked the temperature during fermentation and then brought it to cool.
Messina Hof's Barrel Reserve Pinot Noir is fruity and elegant in a rich Burgundian style. This wine is medium-bodied with clean, fruit flavors, especially ripe plum and cherries. Oak aging adds a character of warm, toasty, rich vanilla.
This lovely Pinot Noir complements light meats, pasta, and grilled seafood.
It was a winner at the Tasters Guild International Wine Competition and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Wine Competition.
Serve at 65 degrees F.
