Our Paulo Port is the finest Port from our 28 year old vineyard. Intense chocolate and cherry flavors aged in new French oak and new American oak for one year each. Naturally fermented using high alcohol tolerant yeast no brandy is added producing smooth and fruity flavors. It is the first Port style wine made without the use of brandy. Our estate vineyard has sandy loam over clay which causes these wonderfully intense flavors and aromas. Papa Paulo Port was the first wine produced commercially at Messina Hof in 1983. It was inspired by Paul's family of winemakers from Messina, Sicily who produced Port style wines.
