Merlot has always been one of the best grapes to grow in Texas. Messina Hof Merlot was the wine that inspired producer of An Evening Star, sequel to Term of Endearment, which won the Academy Award, to use our wine exclusively in the Academy Award nominated film. Every scene that includes wine features a bottle of Messina Hof wine. The producer had seen our cherub label in an industry magazine and wanted to use it.

Messina Hof's Barrel Reserve Merlot is known for its berry aromas and silky, smooth elegance. A wonderful blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is aged in one year oak.

The wine is dark, rich and very round in the mouth with a hint of cassis. This wonderful wine is great with beef, lamb, pizza and rich red sauces.

It has won numerous gold medals and best of show awards including the Los Angeles County Fair.

Serve at 65 degrees F.
