When Paul and Merrill went to St. Emillon in the early 90's they visited Chateau Aussone. They remembered the wonderful chocolate aromas in the wines and decided to pursue that grape for Texas. We have used it as a blender with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. Cabernet Franc is the Prime Rib of red wine!
A gold medal winner at the San Antonio Express News and the Lone Star International Wine Competition. Messina Hof's Private Reserve Cabernet Franc is Double Barrel Aged in European and then American oak. It's a rich wine bursting with blackberries, vanilla and all-spice. Blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is nicely complements grilled meats, game and spicy sauces.
Serve at 45 degrees F.
